I've been to this restaurant every now and then throughout my life. This time it was only a couple of us and a variety of memories. We sat in the building on the right hand side next to a fireplace. It was lovely warm as it was pretty cold outside that particular day. Two of us ordered a meal including meat of a deer, which was quite tasty and the third meal was a roasted goose (unfortunately has been something wrong with it, so that the person suffered a little heartburn afterwards, nevertheless it has been a delicious meal). Anyway, the table service was great and friendly as well as fast working. The restaurant itself is located within Berlin's famous forest called Grunewald and sitting on a slope of a hill overlooking some part of the Havel river. In warmer months it is possible to sit outside on the terrace. If there is time enough it is possible to have a walk down from the terrace to the Havel river and continuing walking to a jetty to take a ferry across to an island called Pfaueninsel. The food itself is quite costly but you won't starve :D
After visiting the "Pfaueninsel", we walked along the beautiful Nikolskoer Weg, took a quick bath in the "Havel" along the way before stopping in the "Blockhaus". An amazing view from above there. They were open on a Monday and 6 of us were served by a very friendly waiter. He was charming and funny and very efficient. We particularly welcomed this after having had a few very bad German restaurant experiences. The food was served nicely. Everything arrived at the same time and warm. Food was evidently freshly cooked and prepared. We ordered nothing fancy, but everything we had was super. A very happy lunch experience with spectacular views from above. I bought some home-made honey on my way out. Nice. Definitely recommended!
