The Greek Club is an institution I'm the downtown drinking scene. If you're looking for fine dining and cocktails you're best off elsewhere. This is a place with with some solid snacks and ice cold beer. The service is efficient and friendly. The prices are great. Also, in the summer, the outdoor terrace is great to sit out on and one of the few places where you can drink outside in central Cairo. The head waiter, Sayed, is the nicest hardest working guy you'll meet. I'm not a feta cheese fan, but many of my friends like the Greek salad there. Overall, it's a great affordable, and unpretentious hangout.
Archaeologists friends of mine took me to this place for dinner last week. I was pleasantly surprised, as we walked up a badly lit staircase and arrived at a lavishly decorated room with plush curtains, fairy lights and a grand piano! The menu has Greek influences - it is after all the "Greek Club" although you will find pasta dishes as well. Service was a bit slow at times, but friendly. The food lacked seasoning but the portion size was good given the low prices. The atmosphere was great and improved once the pianist started to play a medley of songs, including some bossa nova! All in all a great experience! The place gets quite busy so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
