We stumbled upon this little place after leaving the Sea Cliff area. My daughter loves chicken chow mien and wanted to try it here. She loved it! I tried a bite and found it delicious. Small out of the way places can really surprise you. I say avoid the chain places and give small, family owned places a chance once in a while. The proprietor was very nice.
The restaurant is not impressive to look at but Thanh Thanh has quick service, friendly staff, and wonderful food. We ate here for the first time today and couldn’t have been happier. We both had barbecued chicken and Imperial rolls on rice noodles. It is served with a light fish sauce and various other condiments are available on the table. (I recommend the hoisin sauce for timid American palates such as my own.) The barbecued chicken, with subtle and delightful flavors, is nothing like Texas BBQ - they should use a different word and in Vietnamese I’m sure they do. The imperial rolls are crispy and delicious. A phenomenal lunch. It’s also inexpensive. We had one of the pricier menu choices and nice meal for two people was less than $20.00 including tax.
