Indian food in Paris is usually a rip-off, as soon as you venture out of the "daily menus", which are equally poor quality but at least cheap. I made the mistake to eat "à la carte" at Khanchi, to get my favourite dishes. Awful and expensive. A couple of reddish chicken morsels with onions were posing as a "Chicken 65" for a proud 12 euros. A pure scandal. You can go to a fancy luxury restaurant to have a snack for that price. Dull atmosphere. Really, go further, to avoid. One positive note : the parathas were fresh and decent - but again, at a price, 2,50 a piece. Go to the Little India / Gare de l'Est instead.
Judging from some of the reviews I was expecting the restaurant to be mediocre, but since it was close to the apartment that we've stayed in we decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly and kind. We had the boeuf samossas, garlic nam, chicken kurma, chicken tandoori a bottle of white and a mango ice cream. For a total of 50€ (13€ wine included). We had a good meal. The only thing I did not enjoy was that the rice wasn't included in the main courses and it was served separately, I mean it's a bowl of rice (does it do much wrong to included it in the main course?!). But it was better than we expected. The staff is friendly "au contraire" to what some reviews say. They just don't understand you very well because of the language barriers!
How is it possible that this place is named as a restaurant food has absolutely no taste and you can try the appetizers, the entrees, the nan, the dessert.. none of them have any taste... shame on them as restaurant food is to talented
though no my kinda, I like spicy, made accordong to the taste buds of the local, south indian food mostly, the owner is from south India , vegetarian and non-veg both. I preferred the non-veg category
