Great vegan food. Macrobiotic in the 90's style rather than 2015. Quite small and cosy. Waitress was grumpy in a teenage way. Maybe because it was busy. Maybe they are not used to families, although I can't see why not. The food was delicious and healthy and our kids loved it.
The plate in the picture looks very different from ours. This place is now called Sol Semillon. We paid a very large price for a very small pile of adequate but uninspiring food. We were starving at the end of our meal. We felt exploited. There's a good chip shop just along the 'rue' from Sol Semilla. Do your pocket a favour stop there & go no further. Vegan food can be much much better than this & less mean. I always wondered why vegans looked so scraggy, now I know. They live in Paris & frequent substandard vegan restaurants. The only plus point at Sol Semilla was the lovely, lovely service. Thank you for lightening an otherwise disappointing, dispiriting experience. For those who want to experience vegan food at its best look no further than the Garden Cafe in Woodstock, USA.
I was quite excited to discover over 5 fully vegan restaurants in Paris, and so I started my holiday by visiting the one on top of the list: Voy Alimento. As its name gives away, dishes here are based mostly (if not only) on south American cuisine, meaning an incredibly exotic variety of superfood: strange grains and fruits, tasty cacti and spices. Most of the ingredients here I never heard of, and the blend is fantastic. Even the soups, drinks and desserts were out of the ordinary and marvelous. The only downside and thus the 4 out of 5 stars is a little incident with an Argentinian lady (if my knowledge of Spanish accents doesn't fool me) working there. After asking about the table d'hôte (fixed price menu) for 22.50e, this lady happily and nicely explained that it consisted of a large main dish, a drink and a dessert. While eating our meal, I started to read the menu to find that the fixed price option also included a soup. When I brought this to the attention of the nice lady, she said full of smiles that she would ask the cook about it. Shortly afterwards, we were served with 2 random soups from the 4 that normally we could personally choose from. I don't know why the "waitress" and the 2 cooks forgot about the soups and why they didn't give us the chance to choose what soups we wanted. Also, the meal might not be as big as some people might wish, although I'd say those superfoods fill you up nicely even in not such big amounts. In any case, a little flaw in an otherwise perfect location for trying an exquisite vegan, organic and fair trade blend of exotic flavors from Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Argentina and other south American regions. And very nice staff. There's also a little shop in the restaurant where you can buy what you eat and other products.
