The seatings so close together that you have no privacy, I overhead the couple at the other table saying how fat I was.Ruined my whole day didnt eat the food and left our meals untouched. The owner was so happy to charge us for the untouched meal and half pitcher of wine. She didn't even offer to get it packed for us even if she could see how upset I was at being called fat. She just said not my problem. I didn't complain even if the steak came with a piece of steel wire.So that also took my appetite away. We just wasted 56 euros on lunch that we couldn't eat.
Our chosen cafe (based on TA reviews) was closed for holiday. We were in the Champs Elysees area and so many of the cafes looked like tourist traps so we walked a couple of side streets and Le Fronton looked very inviting. We do like fixed price meals and it did offer this but we found the a la carte menu items interesting. We both had salads to start at 5 euro each. I had sea bass with pesto and dried tomatoes and rice for 14 euro. My husband had a steak and thick cut French fries for 16 euro. We had a half liter of very nice white wine for 15 euro. Several locals dropped in for a bite to eat or a coffee or beer at the bar. Definitely a local spot but they tried very hard to make us comfortable and overcome our lack of understanding French. We were very, very happy to have found Le Fronton in the midst of a dense tourist area.
