Great Thai food at a “Locals” restaurant in Bangkok. “Racha BBQ Fish and Seafood” is a great “locals” seafood restaurant in Bangkok that I was introduced to a few years ago by a Thai friend. Ever since, each time I go to Bangkok, several times a year, it is a must stop ! I had neglected to write a review before as I did not know the proper name until my last trip when I visited it 4 times !!! The restaurant is a little ways away from Central Bangkok and the touristy areas and will cost about 80-100 Thai baht (about $ 3 USD) to get there by taxi. It will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic to get there from the Sukhumvit or Silom areas. Between 5 and 7 pm it will take a little while longer. I usually go around 8 pm and encounter little or no traffic delays. The restaurant is located on Ramkhamhaeng, Soi 24. It is to the right hand side just before you enter the Gate # 5 entrance to the Ramkhamhaeng University Stadium. As you approach on Soi 24 you will see the Stadium on the left and the Inter Place Hotel on the right which is your cue to have the taxi stop as it is directly opposite the Inter Place Hotel. The outdoor partially covered restaurant offers a variety of FRESH seafood options including their famous BBQ Fish, which is cooked on a rather unique and huge BBQ Rotisserie. The fish is always very tasty and comes with rice, noodles and a variety of fresh vegetables. The have plenty other seafood options including Shrimp, Squid/Calamari and assorted Shellfish. Most dishes are served family style and would serve 3-4 people easily. I thoroughly enjoy the “Tom Yum Goong” a moderately spicy soup and I like it made with shrimp and squid. I have not quite acquired the taste for “ Som Tam ” also known as (Papaya salad) but there are plenty of patrons that gobble it up !! The BBQ fish is also one of my favorites. The restaurant can probably seat 150 or so guests at a time and waiting for a seat is not a real concern. It is a Seafood ONLY restaurant, no Steaks,
