Strong flavours of garlic, chilli, lemongrass.. Fresh seafood, spicy soups, flavoursome sauces. Crab, scallops, GIANT river prawns! A streetside haunt known mainly to locals. Plastic tables and chairs, authentic and just off the side of the street. The best meal we had. Expect to pay about $40-50 per head and you'll eat only the freshest seafood and lots of it, plus a couple of beers. Well worth the trip out. Standout!
If you like seafood with extremely nice sauce this will be one of your favorite. But like many people says, this place is pretty expensive compare with the others same level of seafood restaurant. Any how, the owner Jae Leab, she is a very good host with the big smile always. Recommend menu is all seafood items.
J-Leab / Jae Leab / TALAE Restaurant is off the beaten track. The building is very, very basic, but there is a steady stream of customers coming for the great food. Take the BTS to Sanam Pao, take the exit on the right, and once down the stairs, turn around so that you are headed toward Victory Monument. Keep going until you see an open building with tables and people bustling around (we passed another restaurant that opens to the street, but it was very quiet both times). There is an English menu and folders with pictures of the food. We had the same waitress both times and she got our orders right each time. Every dish we had was excellent. Just the thought of the grilled scallops, grilled prawns, and grilled pork neck, all with sauces that lifted them up even higher, the stir-fried morning glory, and the tom yum goong that we had tonight are making me consider a third trip out there... According to the owner's business card, they are open from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.
