Visited for a special anniversary. Felt a little forced into having the full tasting menu as the alternative was to pick "3 or 4" individually-priced dishes, which was both a little confusing and expensive. The chef is clearly very talented. We enjoyed some deliciously light and interesting "nordic cuisine", and it was all so very pretty. Who knew broccoli could be beautiful? Wasn't so keen on a couple of dishes (pickled onion with condensed milk?) but the inventiveness paid off in others. I just would have preferred the option of a shorter tasting menu or a 3 or 4 course fixed-price option as I was really too full to appreciate some of the later dishes. The atmosphere itself was a bit disappointing. The view over the Tivoli Gardens was a plus, but the set-up of the room was odd and neither informally cosy nor formally special. The service was very good, the waiters knew about the food and were very polite. Still new, this restaurant has a lot of potential, but needs to rethink some of the detail if it's to become the special place it aspires to be.

Not the norm but I was looking forward to the surprises. It was our first time in Copenhagen and we wanted a special venue for my husband's birthday with a uniquely danish experience. As most of the other top end restaurants were closed for their summer holidays, we decided to try Nimb Louise. I note the mixed reviews but I think this probably means that the type of food can be somewhat polarizing. I think the chef is talented and creative and I would return if I were back in town to see how he interprets other seasons. We had the "Summer's Flora" menu. This menu consisted of seven starters (excluding the bread) - which are essentially bite-sized finger foods, followed by seven mains and then by three desserts. As befitting the name of the menu, there was strong focus on seasonal items and in particular, vegetables. This is right up my alley as I prefer food with a lighter palate. For those who don't eat giblets, this may be a difficult menu as hearts, kidneys and sweetbread also feature. I'm not big on innards but I loved how the sweetbread (one of the starters) was prepared. My absolute favorite main was the kohlrabi, which was sliced to resemble linguine, and which was served with fish roe, and a light basil-based (?) sauce. My least favorite item was an odd pearl onion based dessert. The restaurant itself is probably smart-casual rather than formal, which again suits us as we were not looking to dress up. The staff were attentive and professional and put up with us as my husband and his brothers disappeared mid-meal to have a smoke on the terrace, which conveniently for them was just out the door next to our table. The views of Nimb/Tivoli from the terrace as the sun set was a nice plus. The one suggestion I would have for the restaurant is that it would be nice for the service staff to be a bit "warmer" - not diner casual but they do have an undercurrent of professional detachment. They served us coffee and tea in a very pleasant sitting room upstairs from the
