This restaurant is one of the best in Medina of Tunis. It's been more than 10 years that I eat here occasionally during Ramadan and the meals are always excellent and the service is very professional et friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant inside a beautiful Tunisian traditional house and easy to access by walking from downtown Tunis or from La Kasbah.
We had a great time at this restaurant: Great food, good service and value for money. Few tourists at the time and therefore a very calm dinner. "Everybody" goes to Dar El Geld - this restaurant gives you a more intim experience.
It was an excellent dinner arranged it for our Wedding Anniversary, the service was warm and excellent, the authentic Tunisian decor and architecture was everywhere, good old medina smell, and there was a "Kanun" musician with his folkloric outfit. We had an excellent dinner, Desert was on the house, and it was really delicious. Sure I will coming again.
Once you get over the strangeness of having to knock on restaurant doors to be let in, this was a very enjoyable experience. The waiter and Maitre De were very friendly and seated us despite not having a reservation. The setting is fantastic - beautiful and ornate traditional decor. You really don't expect it when viewed from the outside (the contrast of the shabby building exteriors and rich interior is a shock). The mezze starter was delicious (and extensive) and I very much enjoyed the incredibly tender minted lamb dish which the waiter recommended to me. My boyfriend had a cous cous dish which was enormous and a little plain - the meat was well cooked but there was way too much to finish (even with my help!). There was a man playing a zither-like instrument in traditional dress in the corner, but this happened to be right next to where we were seated so it was a little loud but fun. Would recommend but don't fill up on bread and maybe avoid thd cous cous dishes for something a little more flavoursome and manageable.
