Thus restaurant had the look and feel of fine dining, the service was great and the wine was priced in line with the surroundings. We arrived at 4pm and the lunch menu was still being served. While the flatbread was a lovely starter, I had Peroni beer bsttered fish. Had zero flavour and was only saved by some very nice (homemade?) tartare sauce. Chips were frozen. Real disappointment in a restaurant of this calibre. By the time we left dinner menu was on offer and I was jealous hearing the table next to us bring offered pan seared monkfish served on a potato puree. If you are going, stick to the dinner menu.
Been here a few times and so far haven't been disappointed! I've got the market fish both times and they have delivered each time! My boyfriend has had the steak and pork belly which he also loved! The service has always been exceptional! Would 100% recommend for a good hearty meal! Just don't order the vegetarian tart for entree as it was somewhat average, consisting of just about a whole pot of cream cheese! Other than that, delicious, will be returning again!!
We had a very pleasant early dinner at this pub on the banks of the Avon River in Christchurch. We sat just inside, although the tables outside presented well also. Because we were early, we were able to take advantage of the happy hour and the short wait for our freshly cooked food passed happily one could say. The pub food was good and the service most friendly....has to be recommended.
Me & my partner were very excited to try 'Regatta On Avon' as it looks picturesque from the outside and we had heard good reviews from when it was under previous management. We were both bitterly disappointed with what we encountered on our first (and most certainly our last) visit. We both had the duck liver parfait with toast / chutney for starters. It was tasteless, grainy and utterly non-enjoyable. The portions were a decent size, but that's not great when it's pretty much inedible. The start was average to say the least but it was only a precursor to the main course, which still is to this day THE WORST meal I've ever sat down to in my thirty four years on this green earth. I went for the pork belly / scallops. The pork belly was in actuality 'pork fat' - there was no pork meat to speak of. All that was present was an uncooked piece of (unrendered) fat. The usual pork crackling was non-existent and the scallops funnily enough were over cooked. Even the accompanying vegetables were limp, tasteless and altogether underwhelming. There was nothing good to note about this meal as a whole - it was terrible. My partner went for the steak option (medium rare) and what she received was a piece of non-cooked fatty beef (and not a nice marbling which is what you'd expect - but a lump of fatty off-putting meat). Her veg was equally as bad as mine and we both attempted a 'taste' of what was put in front of us, but regrettably so. There were no redeeming qualities about this meal - not even the very appealing internal furnishings or the pleasant waiting staff could make up for this 'restaurant meal'. Admittedly we were using a GrabOne, but the whole purpose of GrabOne is to tease the patron into coming back based on a once off gastro experience. This was an experience alright, but not an enjoyable one and most certainly not one I'd wish to put myself through ever again. If I could have given no star's to Regatta On Avon I would have - this was by far the worst meal I've ever
