Avoid this place. We unfortunately stayed here for one night after our (much nicer & same priced) guesthouse was fully booked when we wanted to stay another night. My boyfriend booked online through Agoda and checked us in whilst I was on a boat trip. When I came to find our room the manager (I think) a middle aged lady was understandably a bit confused when I wanted to go up. But eventually I think she understood. We then left the hotel and returned twice. On the third time I had stopped off to look around the market so came back alone and my boyfriend was already in our room. The same woman who I'd seen the previous day was refusing to let me go upstairs! She kept shouting no at me. She was unbelievably rude. To put in to context we have been travelling in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam for the last 3 months staying in budget guest houses ranging from £6-£15 per night. We have met some amazing owners/managers/staff at these places and I have never been treated so badly in any of them. I could understand if she hadn't seen me come and go before but she was downright rude. I appreciate they are being safety conscious but she had seen me come and go with my boyfriend and then spoke to me like I was something she had wiped off the bottom of her shoe. Eventually I just walked up. The room was $22 (£14). This was more than our far nicer room in a hotel at the other end of the main street. The only good points were that the bed was comfortable, the WIFI worked and that the air conditioner & fan worked. However the bathroom was dirty, no hot water, the toilet didn't flush which they are aware of and provide you with a bowl to do a manual flush, awful pillows and a non blackout section of the door so anyone could see in. See photos I've posted. Note that there is no lift and the stairs are narrow and steep. So anyone with mobility issues would have trouble here. Overall I would say you can find far nicer, better value for money and a better welcome elsewhere in Cat B
The owner is a very nice and well mannered man, speaks very good English and has the best prices for boat trips and buses. The food in the restaurant is awesome and the rooms are great. Highly recommended!!!
Paid 6$ a night and you get what you normally get for around 6-10$ a night. Not the greatest bathroom/shower but double beds and lovely view. The owner, who is also a tour organiser is very lovely and helpful, speaks great English and is very honest (accidentally gave him 1 million dong instead of 100thousand dong and he told me I gave him too much). The lan ha bay kayaking trip was amazing, was DEFINATELY worth the 20$ or so it cost for the day (including lunch) and cheaper than asia outdoors.
We stayed here 4 nights, and got a great room with a balcony and an astounding sea view. Room was clean, with private fully functional bathroom with hot water, large bed, tv, wardrobe, small table and a fridge. The food and drinks here are so great, cheap and excellent, especially the seafood plates (mixed seafood soup, fish, shrimp, squid, clam fried rice or noodles!), and we loved the coffee with fresh milk, the perfectly prepared ginger tea, and the cheap beers!!! We much appreciated the fruit pancakes too, so yummy! Mr Thang and his team are very friendly, they provide humble, honest, enjoyable and valuable advices, excellent tours and can accommodate inexpensive transportation throughout all the country. We loved our journey here, and won't forget Mr Thang and his team smiles and exchanges.
