This little hidey hole is tucked some ways off the main street, and I almost gave up finding it, but I'm glad I did! This felt like an English ex-pats home from home - a local pub transported to the Thai islands. Very friendly and welcoming owners, warm and lively atmosphere, and a roast dinner big enough to sink a battle ship! All that, and Thatcher's Gold cider on draught. Beautiful. If you enjoy a friendly, British style pub, or just missing some home comforts, I really recommend this place!
What can I say about this place , but wow! If you are looking for a good old fashioned welcome then look no further than this place. Joe from England and his wife Rattie, have got it all going right here. Just off the track from Big Buddha lies this quintessential English style pub with traditional fixtures like a solid wooden bar, brass fixtures and some great memorabilia from old times to really make a home from home, and the air conditioning makes it feel even better !!! It is clear to see that they take pride in their food and everything is cooked from scratch so expect a 30 minute wait for food but this is easily filled with an ice cold beer or english cider , and good conversation, even a game of darts if you wish ! I've tried a few of the dishes including home made fish and chips, lamb kebab, mussels and the burger with Stilton is epic ! But hands down and a must is the Sunday Roast, 4 meats to choose from , huge homemade Yorkshire pudding , and the best crackling I've ever had, seriously Advise booking as the Roast is very popular amongst locals If you do one thing during your stay, then please visit here at least once as guaranteed it will leave a lasting expression .
Had Sunday lunch with friends. Excellent food, choice of meats, or you can have a selection. Such a range of veg and potatoes. If you go home hungry you hzven't eaten you plate! Not the easiest place to find, but well worth it for the roast!!
I probably had the best Pork Roast Dinner for many years at Shakespeares (and I've ate a lot of roast dinners)!! The meat, veg and gravy was fantastic not to mention the giant yorkshire pudding. Three of us just turned up one Sunday and managed to get a first sitting at one of only 5 or 6 tables. Having been before we knew what to expect and the place is like an old British Legion Club from the 70's which is brilliant and adds to the experience. The food really is superb and it is best to book in advance and order your meat choice. If you fancy a good old British roast this is the place to go. Great food, atmosphere and booze!
