We went to La Foixarda on the Sunday of the Barcelona Marathon, so perhaps my comments on the service are a little harsh under the circumstances as the place was packed to the gills. We'd booked a table, but still had to wait to be seated nearly 30 minutes after our booking time. The wait would have been softened by an apology or a drink (not a freebie, but an acknowledgement that we were waiting). The real glory of this restaurant is the lovely terrace which looks out over the schooling ring across to the stables and Montjuic. We finallly got our table and ordered from a rather Basil Fawlty-ish. We decided to ask for aperitivos and bread to stave off the hunger pangs and thirst while we waited for our main orders. Even that took a while and was delivered to our table with little grace. Finally our order of calçots, paella and arroz negro arrived and it was all absolutely delicious. It was my introduction to calçots and romesco sauce and I was hooked. Maybe the romesco salsa wasn't as good as the homemade (by a Catalan friend) version I've eaten since, but it was pretty damned good. The rice dishes were also delicious and, as the crowd began thinning out, the service became less Fawlty Towers and more Barcelona...or had we had enough wine by that time to be feeling rather mellow ourselves!? We finished up by wandreing over to the stables and petting the horses. All in all it was a delightful experience with the service made acceptable by the glorious sunny spring day and the setting.
I've got a recommendation about Calçot Paella & Grilled Mix Meat from a friend. I was told to try the lunch, and so I did!that was amazing!! All dishes was so fresh and delicious. The staff is really very friendly and were very kind and please to me! Next time you are in Barcelona, put this place in your list under must! See you next time.....!
Hi, Last week I was visiting at this Restaurant with my Swedish family and friends and some other colleagues really really really the Food was excellent especially Mix Grilled Meat and the staff also clean and professionals . But the most important thing is the location of the Restaurant at top of the Mountain finally Really it's a naturally beautiful Food point ...!!!
We stumbled across this sunny little restaurant wandering around Montjuic. You can't see it from the road, as it's right in front of the riding school. It has a lovely terrace with views to the Palas Nacional and the stylish Communications Tower. The food was very reasonably priced with large potions, a selection of tapas or main meals. Great service from our friendly waitor who spoke good English. Definitely recommend as a lunch stop away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
