We were staying in the Ad Hoc Monumental Hotel and this is the separately managed restaurant attached. Beautifully presented and very tasty food. Good quality ingredients enhanced by imaginative cooking; complex but not fussy. Pleasant and helpful waiting staff
Had high hopes based on other reviews and the first course- the brandade apertivo- but it quickly went downhill. Each dish was either a bit too syrupy sweet or too heavy on the miso sauce salty. The serving staff really let the place down. There were only two other tables yet I struggled to get their attention as they hid behind a column and chatted amongst themselves. Never seen anyone (try to) clear breadcrumbs from a tablecloth with a spoon before- a tool singularly ill-designed for that purpose. Final insult was the schoolboy error on the bill that made our total €119 not €64. And you can get lots of excellent lunches in this town for that much money.
This restaurant is part of the hotel we stayed in, but is separately managed. It has a small and slightly confusing menu, but the food is unusual and excellent, with fresh flavours, precise cooking and friendly service. Strongly recommended!
My wife and I ate at Boix quatre this evening. This meal was incredible--highlights included cod with cauliflower cream sauce with pine nuts and pimenton, morcilla (blood sausage) with an egg sauce....desserts included pineapple and yogurt ice cream balls in a sweet sauce with touches of fennel and a chocolate mousse with pear and coffee. We were swept away by the contrast of flavors and textures. Inventive, creative, intelligent cooking. We washed it all down with a red wine from Leon that like everything else was way underpriced. We paid under 100 euros for the entire thing....I can't imagine what a comparable. Dinner would have cost back home in California.
