Its a bar with a Jamaican theme, but plays all types of music. Inspite of visiting alone I ended up having a good time. I quickly got accosted by Mario and David (two of the several partners that started the place). Very soon you are sharing tables with strangers, who turns friends by the end of the evening. Great place to let your hair down. Though it started as a expat hangout, was good to see conservative locals let their hair down. I missed the high energy weekend nights but was pleasantly surprised at a near full house on Sunday. Now I look forward to tonight when they have an open Mike night which has won them an award last year.
I have been reading a lot of great reviews about this place, and I've heard a lot. We went here once a few months ago but the place was packed up. We arrived at around 9. So tonight we, me and the roomie, decided to give it another try, we came by at 7. All of the seats were taken except the bar. So we sat there, ordered drinks and dinner (beef jerk and sweet and sour fish). The server informed us about the happy hour, buy one get one free. We couldn't be more happy about it. But we had to wait for 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. And apparently we were not the only one who had to wait for quite a long time as there were some other guests came back and forth to the register and asked about their food. When they finally arrived, the rice dish of the beef jerk was cold. The beef was lukewarm. Roomie commented the corn was not as sweet as she expected to be. Luckily the fish was served fresh from the pan. It was hot and tasty. So we had little to complain. The food were great. And the servers were all helpful. And the home band was cool. We went home at around 10, as it was getting crowded. Overall, the place was okay. And we could really feel the friendly ambience as perhaps there were regulars among the crowds tonight. I wouldn't mind going back but I'll just have to remind myself not to go there starving.
