Took two of my best friends to Lucy last night and was so impressed! The food is so delicious and authentic! Small restaurant with intimate feel and comfortable/relaxing decor! The owner and staff are always so friendly and the coffee is the best I've ever had! If you're looking for a unique and fantastic dining option, be sure to give this hidden gem a try! You'll be glad you did :)
Stopped in one evening recently and enjoyed the vegetarian platter (for one). Nice cabbage, collards, yellow stuff(?), two lentils and salad all atop Ethopian flatbread called injera. For those not familiar with Ethiopian food, there is a lot of stewed dishes, variously spiced, ladled upon the airy, slightly sour, injera flatbread. Extra injera is supplied and you use the bread to grab a mouthful of what you like. This seems to be a family owned and run spot with teenagers coming and going and the daughters helping. The girls were very friendly and one spoke with a young boy from Addis Ababa who had been in Canada less than a week. He seemed to enjoy the Ahmaric and food, so I guess that speaks highly of the authenticity. I really enjoyed the food and the very relaxed pace of the place. I would definitely go back and venture for slightly spicer next time.
Went to Lucy's for the first time and experienced a traditional Ethiopian dinner. We enjoyed injera with several vegetarian and meat dishes. My favourite meat was the lamb and all the vegetables were delicious. I am not a coffee drinker but had to experience the authentic coffee experience. It was heavenly, especially the faint chocolate smell from the freshly roasted cocoa beans. Will definitely returned for dinner. Close to the subway and parking near the subway is only $3 during the evening. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant is small and cosy.
