Next time you're near City Hall or the Cambie Corridor and you want something light, fresh and inexpensive to eat, try this special little place just opposite the regular food court inside the City Square mall. (It's just across from the HyRise salad bar). The name is a bit strange, it says Water 80, but underneath that sign is a lovely mother who carefully and deliciously prepares handmade dim sum dumplings with really good quality ingredients including scallop, shrimp, fresh vegetables, etc. All your favourites are here without the long wait. Her soups are delicious too. Light and not too salty. Each plate she gives you comes with a bit of healthy steamed choy with a light sauce. You walk away from this place feeling not only that you've eaten well but that you haven't taken in all the salt, grease and cheap meat and seafood you associate with not-so-great dim sum. Cities like San Francisco have a lot of these places where you can buy only the dumplings you want on the spot to eat there or take out to go, but none of them are as good as this place. So if you don't have a Chinese mom but always wanted one, this is the place to eat.
