While the atmosphere and staff were first class the food (at least what we ordered) failed to make the grade. The prawns in our "Lime, Tequila Prawns" were under cooked and returned for a re"placement order which was only marginally better. The recommended Halibut & Chips" we were expecting to enjoy was virtually tasteless and a total disappointment.
On a recommendation from friends, we visited Thai Lemongrass Restaurant for our first time on a Friday night without a reservation. We were greeted and seated at a nice table for two even though there were may reservations for that night. The service was quick, accurate and patient, because the menu choices were diverse and plentiful. The servers knew the dishes well and guided us to our choices. The entree and drink prices are very reasonable for this quality of food, service and ambience. We will definitely return to this treasure whenever we can.
The restaurant is in a nice location and easy to get to. It is close to the beach on Colorado Bay so you can have an after dinner walk! The restaurant is nicely decorated and feels warm and welcoming. It has plenty of spaces you don't feel crowded We were quickly taken to our pre booked seats (6 of us) and offered water and drinks. Service was efficient and friendly My only small criticism is that the food came out a little disjointed and we had to wait for the last plates to come out so everyone started together. However everything was piping hot so this was not a big problem and everything was clearly freshly cooked hence the delay If we had decided to share everything this would not have been an issue as well The menu is what you would expect and it was very tasty. We all had starters which were presented in nice plates well decorated and with care as were all the meals. I had a special fish red curry as my main which hit the mark! The other meals were equally good and the overall verdict was that we would definitely go back Good choice of beers etc and the wines some of which were local were good and matched the food really well One to return to!!!
This spot is bove average for folks who aren't Thai food experts. For example, the Tom Kah Gai soup seems better (to this slurper) than Baan Thai's. Also, while admitting that such matters are highly subjective, the "mild" version the the spicy dishes seems quite enough (unlike Baan Thai's, for example, where one needs to ask for "medium" to get the same effect). Another point--for those who like to talk in a normal voice while dining-- the music is low and the acoustics absorb a lot of ambient noise. Plus the decor is pleasant.
