I hadn't eaten here in about 10 years. I read another review about them not serving the sandwiches on focaccia bread and I honestly don't remember them using focaccia bread. Anyways, the place wasn't busy at all just before 11:30am, so I ordered a steak sandwich. It definitely hit the spot and was good quality for the price but I've eaten a better steak sandwich at Vincentina Meats in Vaughan. In fact Vincentina's is 10 times better and friendlier service. The older guy at uno mustachio behind the corner seemed like a crusty unhappy man. I won't go back just because of his poor attitude.
I used to come here all the time, for years and years. Always an excellent choice. I would always have the veal and eggplant on a focaccia. The food was always well cooked and priced. Then another business moved in upstairs (Buster's Cove Seafood) and for about a year I didn't visit here because I could not get enough of the grilled calamari and fries upstairs. I went here again in February of this year and I was utterly disappointed with the quality of the food (peppers, onions and mushrooms were under cooked) and no more focaccia bread. I grudgingly had the sandwich on a normal bun and a few weeks later I went back to give this place another shot, once again no focaccia bread. I told them that I would pass on their sandwich and I walked away. I will not go back, no focaccia, my money stays in my pocket.
If you find yourself at the St. Lawrence Market, this is definitely the place to grab a sandwich. Be prepared to wait in line. This place is always busy. Well worth the wait though. Order the veal wit
