We were looking for a quiet restaurant in an upscale part of the city, Interior is very comfortable and air conditioned. Food, however, just average. The pasta with prawns was a little bland--very small shrimp pieces. Not worth a second visit.
Went here on trip advisor reviewers recommendations. When we got there it looked great, nice interior warm welcome at reception all was well. We ordered and my aperitivo was very tasty carpaccio parmesan and salad. Simple but tasty, we had pinot grigio which was also nice. After that the courses went downhill. My tuna spaghetti was quite awful some nice flavours but overall unpleasant. My last course was grilled fish, it was covered in an assortment of herbs so the fish wasn't visible and its flavours was indistinguishable. My gf swordfish was battered in soggy breadcrumbs she scraped off and decided to leave it as did I. Disappointed as we went out and paid a lot of money but didn't let it ruin the night, nice décor and wine so not all was lost. Service poor like most places in Sicily.
We came with overseas guests for dinner at Alkimia. As I've been living in Palermo for a while, my opinion is that the food here is just average for Sicilian fare despite the nice restaurant setting. Thankfully my guests enjoyed their meals so that was a plus. We ordered a Fried seafood mix as a main- which presentation wise looked ordinary, with small pieces of fried seafood scattered about the plate. This could have been presented better, or for instance if the seafood pieces were bigger - they would have looked more appetising. The piece of steak with an uninspiring side of greens was tasty but nothing special. The pasta with zucchini, prawns and tomato (a typical Sicilian pasta dish) was average, alittle bland. The margarita pizza (all cheese) was the saving grace as it was good. We didn't order dessert as we chose to go out for a gelato instead. I was abit disappointed with my experience having read the glowing reviews before our visit.
