Located amongst Soviet style high rise apartment blocks on the outskirts of the city centre, this restaurant is a very pleasant oasis in this area. It is contained on the ground floor of a detached dwelling at Calle 15 Norte, and easy to find by car, or a short cab or cart ride from the city centre, if on foot. The huge Hotel Guantanamo is not too far away, and can be a useful landmark, should you get lost! We dined in the Girasoles about 7pm on a Saturday evening, and found the restaurant to be very quiet, with only one other couple dining. I think that most of the locals were dining at the street stalls on the pedestrianised streets in the city centre! The food is of the simple Cuban norm; chicken, fish, and meat - but very well prepared, cooked and presented. Our waitress was friendly and professional. The whole dining experience was very enjoyable. The chicken meal that we both enjoyed, with two beers, came to less than 10 CUC - excellent value for a simple meal of good quality. I have no problem in recommending this restaurant.
