On our last night of a week in Munich and staying an extra night as we did not want to travel on our 39th wedding anniversary, we selected Monti Bistro based on Trip Advisor reviews for a nice Italian dinner. We called and made reservations and took a taxi from hotel to restaurant. After being seated, the server came with menus and said, I want you to know that we do not take credit cards which very much took us by surprise. She then said - but not very convincingly - that their credit card machine was down. Being our last night in Germany, we had only enough euros for airport trip in the morning. Thus, we asked if they could call us a taxi (which they kindly did) and we returned to our hotel. While I cannot comment on the food, service, etc. I can suggest that when someone calls to make reservations, they be told that Monti Bistro does not take credit cards - whether it is for one night or standard practice.
This restaurant has an amazing business lunch with top Italian delicatessen at a surprising good price. Elegant plating, outstanding cooking, delicate desserts, premium wine offerings, and friendly service. The location is not the best point as it is in a middle of a parking lot, a warehouse district in Munich. Service is slow but nothing is pre-cooked or from a packet. The bus line is at the corner and the U3 and U6 go to the area. Expect to pay about 25 euros per person if you go for the full lunch menu. I will definitely return for more and do my shopping at this market too.
