We visited Eat First (食為先) for lunch, believed it’s one of the better Chinese restaurants in D.C. China Town. Sort of disappointed. The setting of the restaurant was decent and clean. The server was nice and helpful, gave us some useful advice. The dishes she recommended were: Seafood LoMein (海鮮撈麵, $13, delicious) and Shrimp Wonton Soup (淨雲吞 $7.50, tasty but not outstanding as we had elsewhere. It’s a classic dish in Hong Kong seafood restaurants).
My 20-year fave Chinese restaurant. Bad reviews mean peeps didn't know what to order. This is Hong Kong style. Ask waiter to show you on the menu. Love, love crispy noodles with chicken. All fresh veggies (especially stir-fried spinach) are delicious. Don't go expecting cutesy fake dragon decorations and incense. This is the real deal, down home, family- run and good. Just like a neighborhood joint in Hong Kong. Enjoy.
This is a fairly small and not a terribly fancy place at all and not much to look at from the outside, but it was a nice clean establishment in the middle of China Town. Even though the restaurant does not have a Chinese type of name, the food was very Chinese. I had scallops and shrimp with vegetables and was quite impressed with the freshness and how well prepared it was. My veges were not over cooked, as they often are at many restaurants, and I received a nice portion of good shrimp and scallops. The spring rolls were very good as well. Our servers where pleasant and efficient. A very nice dinner.
