Had dinner at home. Was in the mood for a paneer tikka dry. Had avoided this place previously as recommended by friends, but went this time as most Indian restraints are closed on Monday nights. Ordered a plate of paneer tikka. The waiter told me it should take fifteen minutes. I said fine as I I know the intricacies of making the dish and thought they are making it from scratch. After fifteen minutes, the lady came and asked if I could order something else. I said I wanted only starters and wanted only that specific dish. She said OK and left. After another ten minutes, she came and told me they don't have the dish. I raised a hue and cry. An Indian lady (probably owner or manager) came and after listening to my story said she will get it for me. After another twenty minutes I got a dish. My wife and me were shocked looking at it. With a combined 57 years of eating Indian food in India and 3 years in Indian joints in the US, we have never seen a paneer tikka look that way. It tasted nice (will agree) but it was more like a Paneer chilly or paneer manchurian. Considering I came wanting to eat paneer tikka, ruined the experience. You cannot fool Indians in an Indian restaurant and should not fool others who are experimenting with Indian food. Imagine going to an Italian restaurant and ordering spaghetti and getting ravioli. Even if the ravioli tastes nice, it is not what was ordered.
My experience with this restaurant started out as something really awesome and then ended up being an awful experience. I booked this restaurant as the venue for my wedding reception. I worked with the owner who was at first so accommodating and wonderful. She explained everything that she would do to the room to dress it and said that I wouldn’t recognize it at all. But as the saying goes once they get your money that’s it. The day before the reception she demanded a couple of hundred dollars from my parents because she said she miscalculated the amount of sweets for the guests. I find this hard to believe considering she calculated everything in front of us and we paid for everything up front and left a very generous tip beforehand. Moving on to the day of the reception this was a nightmare. It was agreed that we can have the place till 5pm. The owner began telling my DJ to cut the music off at 4pm. There were arrangements made to make sure we (Bride and Groom) to have a table to eat on once the food was ready. When that time came her and her staff walked away and did not want to help us. We stood there for I don’t know how long trying to chase her down to get a table to eat on and once they did bring it was just a regular table and our decorations were not even on the table. As far as the decorations go she sold us this grand idea of how she was going to decorate and when I saw the finished product it was nothing like she said it was crappy. She said there would be LED lights all along the wall there was none of that. If I had not brought in my own decorations to make it look more presentable that place would have literally looked like crap. Furthermore the food was not all that fantastic. The owner promised there would be glasses with water at each table well there was none the whole time. We has somebody run out and get bottles of water for everyone. How embarrassing was that! The owner was not willing to do anything at all she stood there with a grumpy look on
The food was terrible & the service was even worse. It wasn't busy but it took 10 mins to get seated, 20 mins to get our waters & nobody ever came for a refill. Wouldn't go back even if I was paid to.
