I was heading out to a concert mid week and decided to have dinner in the city prior with a mate who was going to the concert. We thought German would be good on a cold night and as the Hophaus was close to where the concert was decided to give it a go. On arrival we were quickly greeted and given an option of seating options. It was very wet in Melbourne and most places weren't busy. Going down the beer list there was nothing that I recognise and I asked the waitress which was closest to a few other German beers I know I liked. She was not sure but did suggest something. This beer was ok but not really to my tastes When it cam to food, we had seen some nice pork knuckles heading out to tables but I decided on the pulled pork roll. This was severed on a narrow chopping board with a little tin bucket of crispy potato shavings. It really was not what I was expecting and roll looked more like something you would get from subway. I am not sure if it was meant to be only warm, but I was expecting something hot. Overall flavour was nice. We shared a bowl of hand cut chips and these were the highlight of the meal. I will not be going back to the Hophaus as the other German restaurants in Melbourne are a much higher standard from my point of view, not that the Hophaus was bad, just not at the same standard as the others
