Something for everyone really and an extensive variety of options to choose from with combination meals including mixes of burritos, enchiladas, taquitos, tacos, chilli con carne, Spanish rice and mashed beans. Price ranged from about $18-$25 for mains. The mains were substantial in size, especially the combination meals- I regretted the nachos and dips we'd ordered for a starter as they weren't needed and there weren't enough chips for the dips. Everyone else enjoyed their meals although I found mine disappointing and wouldn't order it again. I had #25 California a combination with chilli verde tortilla, chilli con carne and Spanish rice. The chilli con carne was extremely salty to the point where I couldn't eat it. The description of the chilli verde was a beef dish with a blend of 32 different spices and herbs - on paper it sounded delicious in reality it was a salty beef stew. It was disappointing. It wasn't the tasty experience I was hoping for never the less it was very filling even without the chill con carne. The decor was colourful and vibrant which added atmosphere. The AC was a bit cold so I'd suggest if you feel the cold at all take an extra layer as we all put cardigans on to stay warm. Service was attentive and meals came quickly.
I grew up on Tex Mex, and I am always game to try how other parts of the US and the world view the world of Mexican cuisine. I joined several business associates here one night, and found the experience quite pleasant, for the most part. Australian beers aside (always my favorite) the options and selections on the menu were pretty varied. Not highly spiced, a LOT of rice and beans, but overall, a highly enjoyable meal.
We come here regularly and find that the food is tasty and consistent - good when you want something you already know you like and don't want to faff about with new things or find that the quality has suddenly changed. We've worked our way through a range of menu items - this time it was mole chicken and one of the combination platters. A carafe of lemon lime and bitters from the bar and we were set. The funny thing about this visit is that for one of the first times ever we skipped the dip entree and told the server we may order dessert. Whether it was because we were having a late lunch and they forgot, or they were closing the kitchen and didn't want us to order, when we finished our meals no-one came near us for a dessert order, so after 10 minutes we decided to leave and have dessert at home. Yes - it is a fairly narrow range of westernised mexican, but if you know that and are okay with it then go ahead and enjoy what it does offer. We find it upbeat and cheery, like the food, and appreciate both the gold card offer (like a coffee club stamp deal to earn free meals) and the birthday offers that we receive in the mail.
